Kodak Z981

I just picked up the Kodak Z981 about a week ago and so far I am impressed with it. I want to get a DSLR but figured something like this is better to start on. So far I love it and it's pretty simple to use. Many place's have this 400. camera on sale right now from like 170.-250.

I am hoping in a year I can get a Nikon....but we will see.

If anyone has any questions I will do my best to answer them or at least point you in the right direction.

I was contemplating upgrading to a DSLR from the 'point & shoot compact' ones I've tried in the past.
Pre-digital, I had a Canon AE-1 35mm and LOVED the pictures it produced.
After (finally) buying my first digital Canon Powershot, I had it a year before realizing it didn't have image stabilazion, so I changed to a Nikon Coolpix. Still not impressed....so

figured I'd have to go up a notch on a better camera than the compact....but, being an amateur photog (mainly my kids)...I don't want to spend alot of $$ and not being able to understand how to use it!

The Kodak z981 seems to have alot of advantages of a DSLR. I am hoping that I will be able to SEE a noticeable difference between the pictures over the compact...

It seems there are alot of negative reviews out there on this camera, which does concern me....but, I guess I can always change camera's again in another year if I don't like it! Although this is what I am tires of doing...I'd like to finally get a good camera and be done with it!
